Making Me Emotional: Pictures Of Hollis Woods

The Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Pictures of Hollis Woods was on television Sunday night.

It's the story of a young girl, Hollis Woods, who is passed around from foster home to foster home. After finally finding a loving family interested in adopting her, a terrible event precipitates her move to yet another foster home. Josie, played by Sissy Spacek, is a woman struggling with memory loss that takes the girl in. It seems to be a match made in heaven as she mentors her in artistry. Josie is an accomplished sculptress and Hollis shows real potential with her sketches. But it becomes increasingly clear to young Hollis, and the viewer, that Josie's Alzheimer's is much more serious than anyone knows.

Alfre Woodard turns in a wonderful performance as the caring social worker trying to make everyone happy.

The movie was done very well. I was left feeling very emotional and shed a few tears.

Couldn't watch this. Just couldn't go there right now. I am still getting over an emotional Thanksgiving. I get round two in a few weeks. You are amazingly strong, I am not sure I could live with my ailing father day in and day out. How do you manage to get through it?

Darn it, i wish i had known the plot, i would have watched it, it sounds so moving. And a social worker who does right for a change - heck this retired social worker would like to see that. I am sorry tater for what you are going through. And all of you relatives struggling with loved ones near and dear with this terrible disease. Its something so heartbreaking as you well know. Hang in there all of you through the Holidays which always ALWAYS excerbate family emotions and dynamics in even the strongest among us.
