We had a regularly scheduled doctor appointment today.
Doctor: So, how's your breathing?
Mom: I'm here, aren't I?

After living in Southern California for 20 years, I returned home to upstate New York to watch over my mother who was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. My brother and I did everything we could to keep her in familiar surroundings at home and avoid assisted living. We were successful until June 2009, two weeks short of her 80th birthday. HaHa!! love these moments of clarity. 98% of the time my mother-in-law wouldn't even know how to "say Ahhh!"
Just came across your blog & I will add it to my favorites. God bless you for doing this for your mom - I know what it takes. My wife & I did it for 8yrs till my Mother-In_law past away. My heart goes out to you & your brother.
