Fright Night

Mother dear was sleeping on the couch and woke up in a terror. She was really, really scared. Her whole body was shaking in fear. It reminded me of Lucy's overacting when she was frozen in the basement meat locker.

There was a pillow on mom's tummy that she was looking at and, given her propensity for seeing things as dead, I took it off of her immediately and asked what the problem was. Almost instantly, she snapped out of it and was fine. A change of calm came over her face, no trembling, and she seemed to forget how completely afraid she was just moments before.

I'm finding that she wakes up when she's dreaming or having a nightmare and those thoughts carry through into reality. I do it myself, and I've heard others say, "I don't know if it was a dream or not." We are rational and can make those judgments. For her, it is increasingly all running together.
