The deer came up to the house to eat our evergreen shrubs last night, leaving their tracks in the snow. But the blowing snow is working hard to fill in any evidence of their travels. I looked out in the yard about 1 a.m. this morning and the tracks were there so they were here earlier than I would have thought.
The shrubs are still recovering from the deer munching them down to the nubs two years ago. I put Irish Spring sachets (Irish Spring soap bars cut up into squares and tied in a bundle with cheesecloth) in the bushes this year and last. I think if the deer are hungry enough, they don't care if their midnight snack smells like soap or not.
