Mom came in and woke me up this morning. She asked where she had to be today. This is common with her...she often has the feeling she needs to be somewhere but she just doesn't know where. And 99.9% of the time, we don't have any appointments.
This morning she was sure there was something on the schedule. You see, someone had woken her up so she wouldn't be late. It was a man with a croquet mallet and he used it to bang on the window. She insisted she had seen him but she couldn't find his footprints in the snow.
This could have been an hallucination or a dream. There are bird feeders outside the window and the birds often fly into the windows with a crash. I suspect a bird hit the window and that was somehow incorporated into the dream she was having at the time.

It's so hard to watch them leave us and begin interacting with a world we cannot perceive. On his way out, my Father used to "converse" with beings none of us could see..it was eerie...
Take care of yourself. The caregiver is the most likely person in this situation to get sick. Do you have a support system? Or do you shoulder the burden alone?
Hey Shop Girl--
Thanks for sharing and your concerns. My brother stops by almost every day. We plan on getting aides in here to help me. I've been at it for almost 2 years and it's time for me to get more of a life!
We are in process of making a claim on the Long Term Care policy I wrote about earlier in the week. It provides coverage for in-home care as well as nursing home. That is a great idea all the way around since in-home care is less expensive for them and really where mom, my brother, and I would rather that she be.
I plan on writing more as we go through the insurance process since I know many of you are or will be facing a similar situation and it's always good to know what lies ahead.
