My mom's aide left today for a cruise along the Mexican riviera. She'll be gone for 10 days. I hope she has a great time. I, on the other hand, will be stuck here relatively alone.

After living in Southern California for 20 years, I returned home to upstate New York to watch over my mother who was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. My brother and I did everything we could to keep her in familiar surroundings at home and avoid assisted living. We were successful until June 2009, two weeks short of her 80th birthday. Hmmm...I could do with a Mexican vacation right now, too... I hope you make it through the next 10 days without getting too exhausted.
