After living in Southern California for 20 years, I returned home to upstate New York to watch over my mother who was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. My brother and I did everything we could to keep her in familiar surroundings at home and avoid assisted living. We were successful until June 2009, two weeks short of her 80th birthday. These Alzheimer's Moments document her life and the challenges of being a primary caregiver.

You should call someone to come give you some time off. There is a great service called ComForcare Senior Services. They are all over the US. Go to comforcare.com and click on locations. I bet there is one near you. They will come to your home.

How many more weeks till spring? I think being stuck inside in the winter is hard on patients...and their caregivers!
Days like that can be so hard. Hang in there. Accept help from anyone who offers it. Take care of yourself as much as possible, and remember that you aren't the only one.
