Last night, I was laying on the couch and mother dear was sitting in the chair. We were watching tv and My Name Is Earl came on at 8. I love this show but I was asleep in minutes. I had a dentist appointment Thursday morning at 8:30 and hadn't slept well the night before. The anxiety of going to the dentist (I had broken a tooth and was expecting a painful visit) and that it was early (I'm always afraid I will oversleep even though I never have) had me awake all night.
So I'm dozing on the couch and mom is talking to herself and the cat. I catch some of what she's saying, but since I'm not really conscious, I hear some but miss most of it.
Then I heard it. "I don't know who I am."
She's been struggling the past few days as to where she is, etc. But I've never thought she didn't know who SHE was. It is a fine line when she asks questions like this. When you explain she usually gets frustrated because she knows she is losing her memory. Most times, I ignore her statements and only get into a more complete explanation is she starts a conversation about it...but it seems to be less upsetting if I just let it go when she makes random statements or asks random questions. I didn't acknowledge last night's comment and pretended I was asleep.

I know what this story is about. So very sad...
So much love...
You'll never regret.
Oh this is sooo scary. Sorry you had to hear it... my Dad's been diagnosed with Alzheimer's now and is on Aricept - a world of difference in just 3 days. But I understand it wears off down the road.
By the way - TAG - you're it!
