Cavemen Commercials

Here in the U.S., there is a company called Geico Insurance that sells car insurance over the internet. They rely heavily on advertising to get business because of their direct sales model. The fact that they are a division of the huge conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway means they have deep pockets.

They have several different tv campaigns blanketing the airwaves here in the States. One features cavemen and the tagline, "So easy a caveman can do it." There was the initial commercial that made the claim that spawned a whole slew of additional spots where the cavemen themselves appear and indignantly complain how they are being publicly humiliated and maligned. They are portrayed as everyday people, that do everyday things, with ordinary intelligence...they just happen to be cavemen. It's quite clever and amusing.

To my point, every time one of these commercials come on, mom always says, "There's that guy again." I think she believes he really is a caveman!

Hi. I was just browsing the webblogs and came across yours about your mom and that you have come home to take care of her. I am experiencing everything you are with mom. I spend one or two nights at mom's to relieve a sister who lives close to her and her "boyfriend/SO" of 32 years. My sister, who does most everything for mom, says mom isnt all that bad, just confused most of the time. She says this because she is spending all of her free time at home, babysitiing 4 grandkids almost everyday. Sis Mary hasnt spent the night at moms ever, like I have been doing. Mom is getting just as bad with the Alziehers, she has awaken me several times by staring at me during the night...my biggest problem is she is sleeping almost continuously while I am there, but she keeps waking every 15-20 mins to ask if "is it ok if I am sleeping" "is it leagl?"...and "wont anyone get mad if I am sleeping so much?" I am just releived to be able to post to you, someone who is going through this also. Moms health seems to be deteriating rapidly too...Thanks for letting me blow off stem here..lol..like you had a choice...(I come from a very large family, 4 sisters and 2 brothers...3 of whom are out of state, and two brothers who cant find time to do anything or visit our mom)..so the care is really falling on my mom's BF, Al and sister Mary and I...again, thanks for writing as you did in this blog..I dont feel alone anymore.

I'm glad you found me and thanks for dropping me a note!

When I started this blog a few months ago, I thought it was going to be depressing and serious. As it turns out, I found myself writing about all the amusing things. Hopefully I will be able to find the humor throughout this whole situation!
